There are so many podcasts out there – how do you pick one?

Here’s a plug for AI for Good: Artistic Intelligence, a Changing the Story podcast, hosted by yours truly and Michael Ashley. This is where we explore the intersection of art, sustainability and technology.

In 2020, the pandemic made things tough, but from the podcast standpoint, it was an incredible year. We learned so much and discovered that a lot of great artists out there have been doing some amazing work in all forms of art, as well as helping to drive sustainable development goals (often referred to as SDGs). At the end of the day, that’s what this show is really about – my magic formula is really about art, plus the SDGs, plus technology.

Okay, hang on. If you’re thinking, “Hey, Neil! What are SDGs,” let me give you a quick overview before I keep talking about what makes the podcast so great.

If you check out, SDGs were “adapted by the United Nations with a universal call to action to help reimagine a better future for everyone by 2030.

“Bringing together multi-disciplinary talent, latest technology and financial resources, AI for Good is serving as the leading platform to accelerate this pursuit.”

We aim for the following:

  1. No poverty
  2. Zero hunger
  3. Good health and wellbeing
  4. Quality education
  5. Gender equality
  6. Clean water and sanitation
  7. Affordable and clean energy
  8. Decent work and economic growth
  9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure
  10. Reduced inequalities
  11. Sustainable cities and communities
  12. Responsible consumption and production
  13. Climate action
  14. Life below water
  15. Life on land
  16. Peace, justice and strong institutions
  17. Partnerships for the goals

(Intrigued? Check out the SDG Acceleration Toolkit, an interactive platform for analyzing system interconnections, enhancing policy coherence, ensuring that no one is left behind, identifying risks and building resilience).

So back to my magic formula. This is how we actually enable and enact meaningful change. The SDGs are the goals. Technology is a way to help us get there.

But how do we actually motivate people? How do we get people to change their behavior for better impact for people and the planet?

We do it through art.

Art is a great way to motivate, to inspire people to change their behavior for good, impactful results. We’ve seen this from our previous guests, and for that we definitely thank them and for illuminating us and opening our eyes to the world of possibility and what’s going on with AI and art.

As we move forward in 2022, I thank you if you’ve already been enjoying the Changing the Story podcast series, but if you haven’t checked it out yet, please do, and subscribe and share with your friends. Thanks, and see you at the podcast!
